There seems to be a million different facial cleansing products and routines that guarantee bright complexions and pure faces. "Purifying" is a word you see a lot on different products, but what, exactly, does that mean? The word "Purifying" has several different meanings, most of which can actually be applied to skincare. It can mean the removal of unwanted or harmful substances ( always a good idea for your skin!). It can also mean the removal of stress, or irritation. A purifying regime can lift and calm your emotions, and in that sense "purifying" can mean more than just cleansing. You should expect anything that touts itself as purifying to not only cleans your skin, but refresh your spirit.
The All-Natural Steam Facial
One of the best, least expensive, ways to do this is through the all-natural facial steam. This is a simple procedure you can perform at home (no need for costly spa appointments), with products commonly found in your kitchen.
Collect the following items:
o A small mixing bowl
o A large bath towel
o 2 cups hot water (not quite boiling)
o 1 tablespoon rosemary leaves
o 1 tablespoon mint leaves
Set your kitchen timer for 10 minutes. At the kitchen table, poor the water (carefully!) into the mixing bowl. Add rosemary and mint leaves to the hot water. Sit in front of the steaming bowl. Lower your face over the bowl until you feel the heat and heavily scented steam from the water. Don't get too close to the water, stay at least 12 inches away. Drape the bath towel over your head and around the bowl, creating a kind of tent to trap the steam. Breath deeply and smoothly unti time is up. Rinse your face with cool water and pat dry. You will feel refreshed, calm, and revitalized.
The All-Natural Moisture Treatment
Another great natural treatment is the deep moisturizing mask. Again, this can be created using common, natural kitchen ingredients. Collect the following items:
o A small mixing bowl and fork
o ½ ripe avocado
o 1 tablespoon rosemary leaves, crushed (optional but good for your skin!)
o ½ cup uncooked oatmeal
o ½ cup warm water
o 1 small hand towel
Mix all ingredients into the mixing bowl, mashing the avocado up with the fork. The rosemary is a pleasant addition, as it has purifying properties and a nice smell, but it's not necessary. Let it stand a few minutes, then spread the goopy mixture on your freshly washed face. Set the kitchen timer for 10 minutes, then sit back and relax. After time is up, rinse your face with warm water and pat dry. You will be amazed at how soft, clean, and pure your skin feels.
Share it with friends - a spa day at home.
These purifying facial treatments can also be fun to share with your friends or family. The same bonding time as a spa day, without the expense! You can chat together while you steam away the stress and impurities, then mix up a deep moisturizing treatment, - then sit back to admire each other's clear, pure faces and count the money you've saved.
